Birthday Celebration at Dolce Vita
For us, there is no better place for a birthday celebration in Anguilla than Dolce Vita. When it came time to celebrate my mom’s 60th, we had no doubt in our minds where we would be toasting to another year of happiness. In general, there aren’t many opportunities to get dressed up here, but we were excited to put on dresses and makeup for what would be one of our biggest nights out during their time here. Naturally, I took the opportunity to host a mini family photo shoot to capture the evening.
By any standards, a Friday night dinner at Dolce Vita is an exceptional experience. Our food was par excellence as usual. We threw in our normal appetizer order — gorgonzola gnocchi (x2) and tuna tartare — and added in the eggplant rollatini for good measure. Sprocka, a brilliant musician who played the cocktail party at our wedding, was serenading the crowd with music that was perfect for the evening. Throw in exceptional entrees, a good bottle of wine and a perfect setting, and my parents (who hadn’t dined at Dolce Vita before) were in love.
To cap off the evening, the staff came out with cheesecake that lit up the room to celebrate my mom’s birthday. She feigned embarrassment but was clearly thrilled about the entire experience and all of the moments that came together to make the night incredible. Before going home, we headed across the street to the Pumphouse to listen to Cyprus Roots. How does a night get better?
